Note: The spoken Chinese Mandarin
language has 4 spoken tones. We have attempted
to re-create those below where after each
syllable we tell you (1), (2), (3), or (4)
as they correspond to each of the 4 tones.
We encourage you to complement your Xianzai.com
Emergency Chinese newsletter with a good offline
study program.

* Tip: It would seem that coffee has
taken over large cities in China like Shanghai
and Beijing! Gone are the days of it being impossible
to find a decent coffee in China. Now you have
so many choices that making a decision about
where to meet friends is no longer simple.
Not only has the number of cafes and coffee
houses increased exponentially in the last
few years, the quality of coffee has improved
dramatically as well (thanks, uh, to some,
uh, famous international brands). Sitting
and chatting with friends in an interesting
coffee shop or sipping a great cup of joe
is a great way to start or end the day. Enjoy!
