English Speaking Singers and Actors Wanted
Beijing Playhouse seeks English speaking singers and actors of all Nationalities for a September 2007 production the Broadway musical Guys and Dolls. Open auditions are Sunday, June 10 at 1 pm and Monday, June 11 at 6:30 pm. All roles are open. There is no pre-casting. Auditioning singers should bring a prepared song. Beijing Ninegates Jazz Festival 2007
The Ninegates Jazz Festival returns this year with 16 foreign and local performers to bring a six-day long showcase of Jazz. RMB30-280 per day, RMB300-600 for all six days. Film: "Still Life"
"Still Life", winner of the Golden Lion award at the 2006 Venice Film Festival, is the latest poignant feature from acclaimed sixth generation Chinese director Jia Zhangke. The film traces the stories of a middle-aged coal miner and a world-weary nurse. Both characters hail from Shanxi province but somehow end up in the Three Gorges Dam area.
