The National Aquatics Center
Located in the Beijing Olympic Green, the National Aquatics Center, which is also known as Water Cube, is or an aquatics center that was built alongside Beijing National Stadium for the swimming competitions of the 2008 Summer Olympics. The Water Cube design was chosen from 10 proposals in an international architectural competition for the aquatic center project held in July 2003. Covering a total construction area of 65,000 to 80,000 square meters and with 17,000 seats, of which 6,000 are permanent seats, the National Aquatics Center hosted the swimming, diving and synchronized swimming events during the Olympics.
